BREAKING NEWS: Stylish floral maxis are not just for the warmer months. Okay, maybe that’s not breakthrough fashion words to live by, but if you’re anything like me, a lot of us tend to think that a dress goes hand in hand with summertime. And in our heads, we think it’s not seasoned appropriately for Fall/Winter months. Just because the air is getting crisper outside doesn’t mean you have to pack those summer favorites away just yet. A summer dress can easily stick by you into Fall, if you do it right, and can be surprisingly versatile!
Below are 3 clever ways to transition your floral print maxi into Fall – so take note and hold onto those maxi dresses a little longer!
Add a Boot to the Look
A perfect way to transition a maxi dress is to pair it with a chunky Fall boot. Nothing says Fall better than an ankle boot! Heel, chunky, mid calf, there are so many options available to shift into Fall.
If you’re wanting to wear a maxi dress but felt like it’s a little too chilly out, wear an over the knee boot. Knee highs look amazing with maxis that have a slit in them and also act as makeshift leggings, but they also look interesting when matched with long maxis.
The dress has a slit on one side so suede over the knee boots takes the place of tights!
Add a Jacket
If you want more ways to layer your summer dresses than just knits and cardigans, try adding some texture instead with the form of a leather jacket. A summer dress can easily stick by you into Fall if you layer it up with a chic jacket. Easy enough right?
A maxi dress in combination with a leather jacket is always a good idea in my opinion. Throw on your favorite moto/suede/leather jacket on top of your maxi and you’ve instantly conquered a fall layered look of mine. It’s so easy to style and comfy to wear, it’s a go-to of mine for a hassle-free stylish fall outfit.
Think colors like black, grey, tans to compliment the heavy fall colors, helping it blend into the new season. Neutral and fall hues work best!
The same can be said for a suede moto jacket or velvet blazer, too – the trick is to focus on texture rather than color, and matching the summer pieces with a classic fall material like leather or suede gets the job done. Easy peasy transition!
Add a Sweater Layer
Top the look with a chunky sweater over. The layer will be perfect for the cooler weather and will transform the maxi into a fresh new look for Fall. Plus, chunky sweaters go with everything in my book!
Do you have a great dress that can work as an equally amazing skirt? Pull an easy layering move and throw on a sweater over it. You’ll be extra comfy, and still get to wear those summer prints.
Plus, my obsession with the long floral dress is a good way to hide behind comfortable clothes all season long.
